Route of Illustrious Figures

This route takes in places that are important for the city and for the figures who made them famous: we are talking about works of art and architecture that bear witness to the lives of important figures in our city.

We start from Parco San Rocco, the Italian-style park north of the historic center, where we find busts of: Luca Galli, architect; Eugenio Centanni, doctor; Oreste Murani, physicist; Temistocle Calzecchi Onesti, physicist; Stefano Mircoli, physician; and a stone inscribed with a sonnet by Luigi Centanni.

The second stop takes us to the Pagani Theater in Via Roma. The theater stands on the site of a 16th-century palace known as “il Palazzaccio,” which belonged to the Pagani family and is dedicated to the painter Vincenzo Pagani.

Continuing through the historic center, we arrive at Palazzo Calzecchi Onesti. This is the Renaissance-style residence where the physicist Temistocle lived, who collaborated with Guglielmo Marconi on the invention of the telegraph.

Our tour ends at the Monumental Cemetery, designed by architect Luca Galli, whose bust we saw in Parco San Rocco.
